In 2023, we helped provide more than 534 people with clothing.
Our Clothesbank+ service has become a mainstay of the Food+ network, showing just how significant the “+” can be in caring for people beyond the provision of food.
During the winter months, we provide for numerous people without adequate clothing to keep them warm, some owning only the clothes they are standing up in.
Clothes are very personal and as such we try to bless people with good quality items that they can choose for themselves to suit their own style and size. We often see the immediate impact of providing good clothes to wear – most guests leave with a smile on their faces, ‘lifted’ by the experience.
We take every opportunity to listen to each visitor and hear a little of their story. For us, the Clothesbank+ is not just about handing out clothes but about addressing the needs of the whole person, physical, emotional and spiritual.
The Clothesbank is open on Mondays at 10am-12.30pm, at Central Hall, 2 W Tollcross, Edinburgh EH3 9BP.
Local agencies and practitioners such as doctors, support workers, social workers or church ministers who wish to refer families or individuals for clothing at our Clothesbank+ can do so clicking on the button below.
Donations
The Clothesbank+ is currently accepting donations of all good quality children’s and adult’s clothes, shoes, bedding and towels. There is a particular need for unopened underwear, alongside boys and girls clothing for ages 6-9. However, all good quality items are welcome!
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Clothesbank+. We are so grateful for your generosity.
Please note: although most donations are provided to Clothesbank+ referees, a small portion of donations are sold to raise money for essential Clothesbank+ items, and if they are not suitable we will donate them to other charities in the city.
